WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

 

Hypnotherapy is a process which uses mental and physical relaxation and guided imagination to put you into what is called a “trance state”, where you are more receptive to positive suggestion and more in touch with your own inner wisdom. When you are in a trance state, you are able to free your mind to discover hidden causes to current problems. You are then able to change the thoughts, feelings and behaviors which have prevented you from being as happy, healthy or successful as you’d like to be.

 

 

WHAT IS A TRANCE STATE?

 

A trance state is a natural state of consciousness where your normal mind chatter is quieted and your body and mind are relaxed. We all go in and out of trance states spontaneously throughout the course of a day, such as when we are daydreaming, driving to a place we’ve been many times, reading, watching a movie, or when we are between sleep and waking.

 

 

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP ME?

 

Your experiences in hypnotherapy will give you new tools and greater self-awareness with which to:

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED, AND HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO COME IN?

 

This will depend on the issues you are working with. Some clients experience significant changes after one session, while others receive great benefit from having several sessions. The average course of treatment is between 2 and 6 months, although some clients choose to continue therapy for up to a year.

 

Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or every other week.    However, if you are dealing with a more acute situation like quitting smoking, you may initially want to schedule 2 or 3 sessions a week for the first couple of weeks, or until your cravings are gone.)

 

 

HOW LONG IS AN AVERAGE SESSION?

 

Sessions are generally between one and two hours in length, and the average session lasts about an hour and a half.

 

 

CAN EVERYONE BE  HYPNOTIZED?

 

If you are willing to relax and able to follow simple suggestions, then you can be hypnotized.

 

 

WILL I BE ABLE TO REMEMBER MY SESSION AFTERWARDS?

 

In most cases, you will be able to remember everything you need to remember about your session. However, if you uncover a painful or traumatic event that you do not wish to remember, then you can choose not to remember it.
